Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for many conditions and symptoms.
This form of therapy operates off of the assumption that our emotions are driven by the way that we think about things and how we behave. A simplified example is that depression would worsen if we fed our minds thoughts like “I’m useless,” “nobody loves me,” and “why bother?”. Subsequently, these thoughts lead us to behave in ways that amplify our depression, such as social isolation and disengaging from activities we previously enjoyed.
